This work comes from Anderson’s ongoing series of works that use playing cards to encode messages, poetry and prose in a dadaistic system of chance. Sorting a deck into 13 types of red and black Anderson creates a 26 letter alphabet, a simple secret code used to pass information in totalitarian environments. Here, cards featuring Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the beautiful wife of John F. Kennedy Jr., an iconic symbol of glamour and tragedy, conceal the lines from Meditations in an Emergency by Frank O'Hara, one of them being " I am the least difficult of men. All I want is boundless love.".
