Tishan Hsu (b. 1951, Boston, USA) is based in New York, USA. His clairvoyant art practice has explored the cognitive and physical effects of technological advances on our lives. Through the use of unusual materials, software tools, and innovative fabrication techniques, his paintings and sculptures investigate and reveal new poetic ways of engaging and reimagining the human body. He has been a professor of visual arts at Sarah Lawrence College and a visiting professor at Pratt Institute and Harvard University.
Hsu’s works have been shown, among others, at the 59th Venice Biennale, the 13th Gwangju Biennale and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, and recently at Antenna Space, Shangai and Galerie Max Mayer, Dusseldorf. He studied environmental design and architecture at MIT, Massachusetts, and recei-ved a BSAD (1973) and a M. Arch (1975).
