Klodin Erb | A Garden is a Garden is a Garden | Nidwaldner Museum

Group Show

28 june - 5 october 2025

From manicured and uncluttered to wild and whimsical – the garden's broad spectrum serves as a metaphor for the constant negotiation of our relationship to nature. Throughout the summer, the Nidwalden Museum will be devoting itself to this multifaceted theme. On display will be various media and site-specific interventions, with which the invited artists address the concept of the garden as a cultivated piece of land.

Right from the start, Elvira Bättig's immersive work invites visitors to discover the sweet messengers of flora. The works of Alexandra Baumgartner and Klodin Erb evoke the intertwining of plant and human life. Sabian Baumann, in turn, opens up spaces of thought in which normality is presented as a state of exception. While the observation of nature and its ability to constantly transform plays a role in Brigham Baker's works, aspects of change and transience can be found in the photographs of Roberta Faust. Quynh Dong points to the dreamlike and kitsch in garden motifs. In contrast, Felix Stöckle exposes the cuteness in the tradition of customs and rituals. Finally, the audio work by Nils Amadeus Lange and Mario Petrucci Espinoza assembles an acoustic herbarium that focuses on the hopeful and healing qualities of garden plants.

A collection of books curated by José Miguel del Pozo invites you to linger and immerse yourself.
