Light and dark, the profound and the light, criticism and humor: In the work of Swiss artist Klodin Erb, everything is closely intertwined. Curtain up for a dazzling Gesamtkunstwerk at the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
Right at the beginning, the curtain falls – as sharply as a guillotine. The sound is startling, a surprise. And a dog barks. Outside, in the courtyard of the Aargauer Kunsthaus, stands a doghouse. Its red interior is reminiscent of a tongue or a vulva. Upon approaching "Cerberus" – the name of the work – one realizes that the house is empty. Klodin Erb's largest institutional solo exhibition to date – "Curtain Falls, Dog Barks" – does what its title suggests. It perfectly sets the tone for the surreal mood of the show.
